Sandi Candiotty began drawing portraits of her family members at an early age. She received her BA from UCLA in Fashion Design. After raising her family, she returned to painting.
Inspired by the French Impressionists, her paintings capture vibrant colors and warm sunlight. She has traveled to paint plein-aire in the US and abroad. Sandy has studied with Kevin McPherson in Bruges, Jove Wang in Russia and Corinne Hartley in France and Italy.
Sandi paints commissioned portraits as well as seascapes and figures in landscape.
She is a member of California Art Club and Southern Ca. Plein Air Painters Association. Sandi has received numerous awards and gives demonstrations and teaches for local art guilds. Her paintings are in private collections.
Artist statement: “Painting for me is a joyful experience of capturing the mood and spirit of a subject. It is a thrill to see my paintings framed to uplift spirits. My goal as an artist is to combine two styles: traditional and contemporary. The principles of design, value, color, rhythmic line and brushstrokes are what I use to achieve this concept. “
